Hessian Film & Cinema Award 2023

It was a great honor for us to stage the 34th Hessian Film and Cinema Award. We had to come up with a noble, harmonious and lovingly Hessian concept. With a great deal of enthusiasm, commitment and dedication, the team around director Andreana Clemenz, together with Hessen Film & Medien GmbH, pulled out all the stops to give the traditional award ceremony a new look and feel. The absolute focus of the production was the emotional journey of the award winners and the emotional experience of the audience.

The end result was a production that created many sensitive and valuable moments.
The concept, timing, aesthetics, dynamics, media, sounds, texts, stage design and, above all, the award winners, laudators and speakers all contributed to making this gala evening an absolute success.
There were honors, celebrations, laughter, tears, dancing, health and much, much more. Definitely a night that will remain unforgettable for many, thanks to the harmony in the hall and the extremely charming staging.

Petra Schmidt-Schaller won Best Actor for her performance in "Ein Schritt zum Abgrund" and Brigitte Hobmeier was named Best Supporting Actor for her role in the crime scene "Murot und das Paradies". The documentary film award went to Julian Vogel for "Einzeleltäter Teil 3: Hanau". The best short film is "Cell 5: A Reconstruction" by Mario Pfeifer. Rainer Ewerrien also gives more space to the cinema award winners in this award ceremony, presenting the Mal seh'n Kino in Frankfurt, the Filmladen Kassel and the Traumstern Kino in Lich in short, friendly interviews. The prize for the best graduation film goes to Emiliano Proietti for "Work in Transition". Best feature film goes to the road movie "Vamos A La Playa" by director Bettina Blümner. This year, the Prime Minister's Honorary Award goes to actress Alexandra Maria Lara, who thanked the jury live from her current filming location in Fuerteventura.

After the award ceremony, there was plenty of celebration at the party. There was plenty of time to eat, drink, chat and network, which all the guests thoroughly enjoyed.
